Université Laval ranks first on Forbes list of Canada's Best Employers for Company Culture 2025. The inaugural edition of this ranking, announced on July 15, recognizes 200 outstanding companies across all sectors that have demonstrated exceptional performance in fostering strong and positive workplace environments.
"Receiving this prestigious recognition is a tremendous source of pride for our university community. I witness it every day: there is a sincere commitment to Université Laval's mission and vision among our staff members. People are engaged and eager to work together to make a greater impact," says Sophie D'Amours, Rector of Université Laval.
This first-place ranking reflects the strong sense of belonging that radiates throughout the community, as well as the widespread alignment with the University's values. Pride in contributing to the advancement and transfer of knowledge lies at the heart of Université Laval's organizational culture.
Companies included in this new Forbes ranking were selected based on an independent online survey of 40,000 professionals working in organizations with more than 500 employees in Canada. Respondents were asked to evaluate their own employers and others in their industry.
The final ranking was determined using the following criteria:
Personal and Public Recommendations: Participants rated their likelihood to recommend their own employer and assessed other employers in their industry.
Company Performance: Evaluations covered multiple aspects of workplace experience, including leadership, communication, employee engagement, collaboration, and values alignment.
Culture KPIs: Additional metrics tied to corporate culture were gathered and incorporated into the final score, providing a holistic view of each company's internal environment.
